 Serialization and e-pedigree on pharmaceutical packaging lines –
 track & trace from one single source

Seidenader T&TSolution allows single item, bundle, case, and pallet serialization at the product packaging process in the pharma-ceutical industry. With the traceability of each item the transparency is guaranteed to pro-vide advanced safety for pharmaceutical products and patients.

The SAControl data management system connects to the ERP/MES system to receive
all required information, e.g. lot number, and
to upload all generated data of the individual line(s). The system manages serial numbers generated internally or through transfer
from upper level system.

Single unit level:

The proposed system will include a conveyor handling system with a HP-cartridge printer (optional laser), a camera system, reject system and the batch controller (PC with data management software) and can be placed behind the cartoning machine or checkweigher depending on URS and line set-up. Or off-line for manual handling of the boxes. Alternative-ly, the components: printer, reader and reject can be integrated onto existing cartoning or checkweigher machines.

In the data base the printed and verified codes are stored.

Wrapping unit level:

After serialization, the boxes are bundled in the wrapping unit. Each bundle is labelled
and the label verified by a scanner – either automatically or manually. Rejected bundles can be reworked with a handscanner.

In the database the information of the bundle and the included boxes is linked and stored (parent/child relationship).

Case packaging level:
Seidenader T&TCase

The process at the case packaging level is equal to the described process at the wrapping level.

In the database the relation from case to bundle and single unit is stored.

Pallet level:
Seidenader T&TPallet

Depending on the pallet handling system,
the cases will either be placed manually
or automatically on the pallet. A code verification system reads the case labels. Once the pallet is completed, the pallet label is generated, applied and then verified with the hand scanner. Valid pallet labels are added to the applied code list in the data-base. Rejected pallets can be reworked. The relation between pallet, cases, bundles and single units is stored in the Line Controller T&T database.

Warehouse level:
Seidenader T&TWarehouse

As a next step the Seidenader T&TSolution allows the integration of the warehouse. The warehouse system includes a workstation with T&T software module, a hand scanner and a labelling system. The warehouse workstation is connected to the Multi Line Server at the customer’s premises. The database will be reconciled after every action at the warehouse level.
